Welcome to the UK!!
December 19, 2010
It's Christmas time!!
Christmas are coming really fast and a lot of arrangements need to be made in advance!
In the UK, Christmas start pretty earlier than in Spain. By the end of October people start getting the decoration ready and you can see the first Christmas lights outside houses, shops and in the streets. Proper celebrations also start a bit earlier, as for example, the advent calendar.
As you can see, the typical advent calendar only has 24 days, but why is that?? Any guesses?? Well, those are the days you'll have to wait from the beginning of December to Christmas Day. To keep children happy in the previous days, a chocolate or sweet is put in each of the pockets, boxes or wholes of each day, so that they'll get a sweet during the first 24 days of December to get ready for the big day!! (remember that in the UK it's Santa who brings the presents, unfortunately they don't know the Three Wise Men ;))
I know it's kind of late this year, but what about making your own advent calendar for next Christmas?? Just try this: How to make an advent calendar
Merry Chritmas and let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!!
